Wine Label v1
Client:
Self-Promotion
Goals:
Incorporate computer graphics with 3D modeling .
Accomplishments:
Done using a first generation solids modeling application in 1990, this wine label was a self promotional design done to see how quickly graphic concepts could be created. Using a software program called Lumena (similar to Fractal Painter) to create the label, I projected it onto a 3 dimensional wine bottle created using Topas ProAnimator and AutoCAD.

Goals:
Incorporate computer graphics with 3D modeling.
Accomplishments:
This model uses one of the first solid modeling programs that used AutoCAD 2D drawings and turned them into 3D. The model tests the applications compatability. The bottle, wine, polygon for the label, and foil were created in AutoCAD. I brought the shapes into Topas (an early 3D software package), created the forms, and gave them material characteristics. Then I projected the wine label (created in Lumena) onto the label polygon, and made a 3D photographic backdrop. The intention was to learn the pitfalls on this model rather than any client's job. There were a few challenges, but it came together amazingly well.
Wine Label v2

Goals:
Incorporate computer graphics with 3D modeling .
Accomplishments:
Another version created by flipping the previous image, changed the colors, and within minutes, a new label was created. This was cool stuff for 1990 when computers were limited to mostly word processing.

Goals:
Incorporate computer graphics with 3D modeling.
Accomplishments:
To create the Chardonnay version of the solid model, it was just a matter of adding different colors and material characteristics to the AutoCad bottle, wine shape, and foil cap in the modeling software.
